ARDSLEY RD SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION START DELAYED ONE/TWO WEEKS

Earlier today I posted an advisory that work on the Ardsley Road sidewalk would begin Monday.   There will be a slight delay in the start of construction (one to two weeks). But, the Ardsley Road microsurfacing should begin this coming week. So, there will be some traffic delays.

The town will  be saving significant dollars (over 30% less expensive) using a new method of repaving certain roads in the town beginning this week- -- hot in place recycling and microsurfacing of roads.  This is the first time we will be using this method of repaving.

The town will be performing hot-in-place recycling and microsurfacing of various roads beginning the week of April 19th. Hot-in-place Recycling is an on-site, in-place pavement preservation method intended as a corrective rehabilitation technique to roadways. It consists of heating, softening, scarifying, mixing, placing and compacting the existing pavement. Hot-in-place Recycling and Double Microsurfacing is more cost effective than conventional maintenance and rehabilitation techniques by reusing 100% of existing materials. The 2021 Hot-in-Place Recycling and Double Microsurfacing Project consists of approximately 53,394 Square Yards Heater Scarification and 1,156 Tons of Microsurfacing. This equates to approximately 7.0 Lane Miles of roadway rehabilitation based on a typical 13-foot wide Town lane (i.e. approximately 3.5 Centerline Miles of roadway). Microsurfacing has been used in other communities with great success. Streets included in this 2021 Project include portions of Taxter Road, Secor Road, Worthington Road, Ardsley Road, Whitehouse Road, Mendham Avenue, Heath Place, Donald Drive, Edith Way and Hastings Close. This project is broken up into two phases – Hot-in-place recycling, and Double Microsurfacing.
