FREE, CONFIDENTIAL AND ANONYMOUS EMOTIONAL SUPPORT--THANKS TO WESTCHESTER LIBRARY SYSTEM

My name is Denise Velasquez. I am a crisis counselor with the NY Project Hope Westchester Crisis Counseling Team. The Westchester Library System is a proud provider agency of NY Project Hope. We provide Westchester County with free, confidential, and anonymous emotional support. As well as referrals and education on resources you may need during this trying time.

We need your help spreading the word about these services.  Would it be possible for you to  provide social media messages to your constituents?  The Westchester Library System has gathered an array of resources for your use.  There are available for your use.  We ask that you make no modification these items.  https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1w_VKZsQlAmt4szOwEp9a5oamfE82ZA5F?usp=sharing

During a pandemic it is common for individuals to feel emotional unrest. The healthcare system and various organizations are taking measures toward providing adequate aid and guidance for individuals with existing mental health conditions as well as those experiencing enhanced emotional distress during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

The mission of the NY Project Hope is to assist individuals and communities in recovering from the effects of  the Covid pandemic through the provision of community-based outreach and psycho-educational services. The NY Project Hope supports short-term interventions that involve the counseling goals of assisting disaster survivors in understanding their current situation and reactions, mitigating stress, assisting survivors in reviewing their disaster recovery options, promoting the use or development of coping strategies, providing emotional support, and encouraging linkages with other individuals and agencies who may help survivors in their recovery process

Many thanks for your help in this time of great need. We are looking forward to working with you closely.

Yours,

Denise Velasquez
Crisis Counselor
