GREENBURGH TOWN BOARD AWARDS CONTRACT TO STABILIZE HISTORIC ODELL HOUSE ON RIDGE ROAD
The Greenburgh Town Board approved a contract with Abbott & Price to stabilize and protect the historic Odell House. The Town received grants from the state of NY to save this house -which played an important role in the Revolutionary War. Work to begin in late February and should take about three months. The cost 197,518.00- from the grants we received. We received a $600,000 matching grant from NYS on December 19, 2019.
This house was built in 1732 and served as the headquarters of Comte de Rochambeau and his French Forces in 1781. General George Washington had camped nearby in Ardsley. The two Generals met and spent weeks acquiring intelligence about the British. They strategized at the Odell House and finalized a plan to march to Yorktown Virginia and then won the war. This site is one of the most important sites of the Revolutionary war.
