Why shouldn't those who suffer with late stage cancer; severe heart problems; major respiratory illnesses, MS, CP take the vaccine first?
In recent days I have received numerous e mails and calls from people who have compromised medical conditions. They are upset that they are having difficulties getting the vaccine. And, worry that the long delays could result in their untimely deaths. I feel that New York State should authorize those with significant compromised medical conditions to jump the line and get vaccines ahead of those who are healthier.
AN EXAMPLE:
Monica Getz of Irvington, widow of Jazz great Stan Getz and founder of the Coalition for Family Justice mentioned the following
"I should also put in that I am a cancer and brain tumor survivor, and I have several underlying conditions, including atrial fibrillation, a long-term heart condition.
Please forward this to your vaccine Angels.
Gratefully,
Monica"
I have received numerous other e mails from residents with stage 4 cancer; lung illnesses, cystic fibrosis; MS, people who depend on oxygen to breath. They can't get vaccines and are waiting on line just like all of us.
NYS should create some type of special line for those with severe life threatening illnesses. Let them get the vaccines first.
