We’re happy to announce that the Town of Greenburgh and our neighboring communities will be renewing our participation in Sustainable Westchester’s Westchester Power (WP) program. The program has been providing residents and small businesses a clean electricity supply choice since 2016 and has mitigated over 660,000 tons of greenhouse gases. The program provides competitive fixed price electric supply and easy access to NY sourced sustainable, renewable energy.
Sustainable Westchester administered a competitive bidding process among registered New York energy suppliers and on September 30 awarded Constellation New Energy the electricity supply contract for January 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022. The default supply for the Town of Greenburgh will be the 100% renewable energy option the program offers.
In the next few days, you will be receiving a renewal notification letter (Click to view the letter) with all program details including instructions on opting out of the program. To stay in the program, you need take no action - you will be automatically enrolled in the program on your first meter read day starting January 1.
The program is very different from standard ESCO offerings - you are never locked in to your choice and you can change supply options, opt-out, or opt back into the program without any costs or penalties at any time. 2. Additional reference information. The above mentioned CONED renewal web page contains the following resources, all of which we have attached to this mail for your reference:
Notification Letter Package: Customers who are currently enrolled in the program will be receiving a letter package with the attached notification letter, a program opt-out card, which is a postage-paid opt-out card, and a FAQ document. All of these documents will be enclosed in an envelope (sample attached) that has the municipality seal on its face. Residents fill it and drop it in the mail to opt-out of the program, within the opt out period, November 15th to December 15th.
Westchester Power Executive Summary: This document is a topline, high-level overview of the program, with an emphasis on program benefits and enrollment information. You might consider using this to outline key aspects of the program in communication with residents or at community meetings.
Resident FAQ: This document reflects frequently asked questions and provides further detail including background on Sustainable Westchester, the environmental impact of the program, enrollment details, benefits, and what to expect. Importantly, it includes a reference to the great opportunity for guaranteed savings by signing up for Community Solar.
