[ARCHIVED] Metro North confirms that Hartsdale train station elevator will be built!

Mark Mannix of Metro North confirms that "this is an important project". " Construction to begin next year. Long time in coming. Will be a big quality of life enhancement for disabled and elderly

Some great news!  Metro North (which has financial problems due to COVID-19) is still committed to constructing an elevator at the Hartsdale Train Station. At the Town Board meeting on Wednesday the Town Board approved an important resolution authorizing Metro North to use a portion of town owned property as a staging area for improvements to the station.

Mark Mannix of Metro North's corporate offices mentioned that this is "an important project." He indicated that construction could begin next year. Will take about 20 months. He acknowledged that this is a "long time in coming" and that some  additional agreements have to be finalized before funding is secured.
This has been a priority of the town for many years. Many elderly and disabled residents reside in Hartsdale. The lack of an elevator at the train station makes it very difficult for people with disabilities to use the train station to get to and from NYC. A great holiday present from Metro North to Greenburgh: an elevator at the train station. There were significant delays in the project due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The elevator construction was originally scheduled for 2020.
Mark Mannix's very brief presentation can be seen on the following link starting around 3 hours and 29 minutes:
