Rich has devoted his life to the town and to local governments. An exceptional public servant
The members of the Greenburgh Town Board have asked Richard Fon, Superintendent of Public Works since 2011 to accept the appointment of Commissioner of Public Works. Mr. Fon agreed and will be appointed Commissioner, replacing Victor Carosi who retired. Rich had worked directly for the Commissioner of Public Works and is familiar with all operations in the town having overseen the operations of water/sewer, engineering, maintenance, highway, sanitation, equipment repair bureau, radio and sign shops. He is passionate about public service and the town, is hard working and very responsive to resident concerns- getting back to residents who have complaints and resolving day to day problems. The Town Board members appreciate what Rich has done for the town and we all think he will be an outstanding Commissioner.
Since 2010 Rich has served as Planning Board Chairman of the Yorktown Planning Board - he is responsible for all subdivision site plans and approvals, including but not limiting to special use permits. He previously served as Conservation Board Co-Chair for the Town of Yorktown- led team to review and advise on wetland permits.
Rich was the principle engineering technician for the town of Greenburgh from 2000 to 2002, assisted the town engineer in all aspects of town development and infrastructure projects. He worked for Michael McGarvey as an Acting Building Inspector for the Village of Tarrytown from 2001 to 2005 and served as Building Inspector for the Village of Irvington from 1999 to 2000. Between 1996 and 1999 Rich was Assistant Building Inspector for the town of Greenburgh. And a Jr. Civil Engineer for Greenburgh from 1989 to 1996.
A former 29 year resident of Dobbs Ferry, Rich graduated from Ardsley High School, class of 1985. And Rich also graduated from Westchester Community College. We are delighted that Richard Fon will be our new Commissioner. Thank you, Rich, for your hard work over the years and for making our community a better place.
