Historic Odell House restoration update
Forum at Greenburgh Library this Thursday 11:30-1 on buying/selling homes (see bottom of this post)
On Thursday and Friday last week, Town DPW crews under the supervision of a local historic preservation architect undertook safety measures to help preserve Odell House. The roof was secured over the last two days (photos below) with specialized tarping for this purpose. This work was preceded by a structural evaluation which identified the building as stable. An additional site visit is forthcoming and at that time a historic preservation architect that specializes in structural integrity will identify a few additional measures to be implemented in order to further secure the stability of the house. Presently, the Town is working with the present owner (Sons of the American Revolution) to acquire the house and restore it so that it will be publically accessible as a public resource. A summary of the historic significance of Odell House is listed below.
The Town of Greenburgh will apply for a Consolidated Funding Application grant for a $1.2 million rehabilitation project ($600,000 reimbursable from NYS) prior to July 26, 2019 with a goal of beginning restoration spring 2020.
