ENCOURAGE FRIENDS TO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL HOTELS
THEY ARE SUFFERING DUE TO COVID 19---THIS IS WHAT THE MARRIOTT ON 119 IS SAYING..
Covid 19 has hurt restaurants, gyms, small and large businesses. It has also created a huge burden on local hotels. I reached out to all the hotels in Greenburgh asking for a status report- how they are doing and received this disturbing note from the Manager of the Marriott on Tarrytown Road. Their occupancy is only 20-25%. Significant risks to owners. A restaurant is still closed. A spa having limited business.
What can you do? Encourage friends who are visiting Westchester to stay in a hotel in Greenburgh! Let's help our local hotels survive during the coming months. The Marriott is an excellent hotel to stay in for visitors who want to bicycle across the Mario Cuomo Bridge to Rockland. Or, who want to visit the charming river villages or historic sights nearby. A great place to vacation.
PAUL FEINER
Greenburgh Town Supervisor
Good Evening Paul,
Per our conversation, yes the COVID-19 pandemic has put a HUGE burden on to the owners of this hotel.
Marriott International is a management company, so we don’t own the hotels, we manage them for owners.
Because of this model, there is much risk to our owners, especially during these times and the expenses do not stop coming in.
We are currently running between a 20-25% occupancy, and because of the pandemic we have not opened our Coopers Mill restaurant or our pool.
We are following the guidelines so that we do have our fitness center operable and The Ruth Chris Restaurant is open 7 days a week.
We do have a marketplace in the lobby, so that guests can get snacks/food/beverages and Starbucks coffee 24 hours a day.
The Spa is open, but with very limited business as well.
Thanks for your letter and thanks for taking my call this afternoon.
Be well/stay safe.
Terry
