[ARCHIVED] update: Rumbrook/Knollwood water pump station infrastructure projecdt

Progress report: Rumbrook/Knollwood transmission main infrastructure project

UPDATE--

Rumbrook-Knollwood Water Transmission Main

Progress Report

I thought I'd write to residents impacted by the important Rumbrook-Knollwood transmission main infrastructure project.  I understand that residents along the route have been inconvenienced by the project. We want to thank you for your cooperation.  This is an extremely important project. If we don't connect the two facilities and if there is a malfunction residents could have no water. Think: Con Ed power outages. By connecting Rumbrook with Knollwood your water supply is something you can always count on.

The following info might be of interest to you.

Construction work for the 30-inch transmission main began the first week of May.

Nearly 4,000 feet of pipe is installed

Work is on-going for control vaults at Knollwood Road near Stadium Road

Work is on-going along Canterbury Road and will soon be on West Hartsdale toward Old Knollwood Road.

Electrical control wiring is on-going as are other interior plant modifications and control work

November the jack and bore operation is scheduled to cross under the Sprain Brook Parkway

Project is on-schedule and on-budget for early Spring of 2021 activation

At this time, disturbed Town roads are surfaced with temporary asphalt.

Upon completion, the Town plans to replace curbing and repave the roadways –probably Fall 2021.

The contractor continues to maintain the construction zone with periodic sweeping to control dust and debris.

Looking ahead, anticipate periodic closures and/or delays on Knollwood Road while excavation and rock chipping work continues.

Expect periodic lane closures and detours along West Hartsdale Avenue for pipe installation in October.

Thanks again  for your cooperation. Feel free to reach out anytime you have questions or concerns about this or any other town initiative.
