a friendly reminder- If you want to be reimbursed for lost food/medication due to Con Ed power outages you must file by September 8 with Con Ed
FRIENDLY REMINDER: SEPTEMBER 8 IS DEADLINE TO FILE CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT LOSS FOOD AND MEDICATION WITH CON ED
https://www.coned.com/en/services-and-outages/claim-form
Last month thousands of Greenburgh residents lost power - some (like my family) for six days or more. Con Ed is offering to reimburse customers for some food and medication. You were given a month to file a claim (on line or by mail). The form says the deadline is September 8th.
The form residents have to file takes some time to complete so you shouldn’t wait till the last minute..
Although I am pleased that for the first time Con Ed is reimbursing residents for food/medication losses - I think the process is complicated for some people (especially the elderly) and wish Con ed would have issued automatic refunds to everyone who lost power for more than 48 hours. Everyone who was out of power for many days experienced spoiled food. I have spoken with members of the NYS Legislature and suggested that refunds in the future be automatic but that requires state legislation. So if you want to be reimbursed you only have a few more days to file.
Con Edison is offering reimbursement of more than $500 worth of food and medication for customers who lost power for more than 48 hours due to Isaias. Residents can file a claim of up to $540 for spoiled food. For claims up to $235, an itemized list of spoiled items must be provided.Aug 11, 2020
