Monitoring the storm that will impact our area tonight and tomorrow. If you experience any power outage please call 1-800-75-coned or online at www.coned.com
We are monitoring the storm that is expected to hit our region tonight and tomorrow. We are in close contact with Con Ed and will work with them to respond to power outages. If you experience any power outage please call 1-800-75-coned or online at www.coned.com (where you can also view service restoration information and our outage map). Con Edison customers can sign up for text notifications at conEd.com/text. Customers can also text REG to OUTAGE (688243) and follow the prompts. You will need to enter your Con Edison account number to complete the registration process. Once you’ve registered, you will not need your account number to report or check the status of a power problem. I spoke with Police Chief Brian Ryan who said that emergency operations will be staffed to prepare for the storm.Call 989- 1700 (main police #) with problems. We expect a quick moving storm. Also spoke with the Commissioner of Public Works, Victor Carosi - the department prepares for flooding inspecting drains.
If you live in an area that is prone to get floods you should prepare for the storm. You could move cars to higher elevated levels. For years - Con Ed and the town have removed low hanging branches and dead trees to minimize damage and power outages. No matter how prepared we are there will always be flooding so property owners should also be proactive. And there will always be trees that come down. All we can do is to try minimizing problems.
