[ARCHIVED] Hat's off to the Greenburgh Parks & Recreation department.

On Saturday I conducted an unannounced visit to the Anthony Veteran pool. Each week I stop by, chat with residents about the pool and observe how the pool is handling crowds during COVID-19. Our goal is to keep people safe.

Hat’s off to the Greenburgh Parks & Recreation department. On Saturday I conducted an unannounced visit to the Anthony Veteran pool. Each week I stop by, chat with residents about the pool and observe how the pool is handling crowds during COVID-19. Our goal is to keep people safe.

I was impressed!

When I arrived at the park I noticed a sign that said Pool full. We decided to only allow 350 residents to use the pool each session. It was a hot day. Only those making reservations were allowed into the pool.

Pool Full Sign

Then  I continued my bicycle ride into the park and noticed that the parking lot had many empty spots

No long lines at the gate to the pool. Staff wearing masks. And, residents who wanted to get into the pool also wore masks.

LAP SWIMMING POOL-- ONLY ONE SWIMMER PER LANE

The parks and recreation team decided to only allow one swimmer per lane to keep everyone safe.

Although the pool and park claimed that the facility was full - there was plenty of space between different groups of people.  Most people did not wear masks while sitting down. Announcements were made reminding pool patrons to wear masks and many people who walked around the pool were wearing masks- even though they were more than six feet away from others.

Social Distancing at Pool

Next Saturday night the town will show Remember the Titans (a drive in movie theater, click to sign up). Last week the parks and recreation department showed their first movie : Frozen 2. Please take a look at the photo below of the parking lot during last weekends drive in movie--notice the cars were social distancing too!  Space between cars.

I will continue to stop by at the pool each week and welcome your comments or suggestions. My cell is 438 1343.
