[ARCHIVED] 2 Westchester swimming pools closed down by county due to COVID

The pandemic is not over. Westchester residents are still testing positive for COVID and dying from the illness. Be careful. The county closed down two pools because someone who visited the pool had COVID.

TWO POOLS IN WESTCHESTER ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED - Westchester still getting more COVID-19 positive cases

Because we all have COVID-19 fatigue we want to believe that life is back to normal. Although NYS is doing better than most states and there are fewer deaths and positive tests, people are still getting sick. Please be careful. Tell family members, friends and neighbors to social distance, not to touch your face, wash your hands,  wear masks when around people. Many people think the pandemic is over. Or they act like it is.  It’s not.

THIS IS THE RELEASE FROM THE COUNTY.. (a resident of the town called me yesterday -her son and other Greenburgh residents have access to this pool because they are in the Valhalla school district. Her sister passed away from COVID earlier this year.)

The Westchester County Department of Health is working with the Mount Pleasant Pool in Valhalla to identify those staff and patrons who were in close proximity to a person at the pool who tested positive for Covid-19, and to assure they quarantine and are tested. The Health Department was notified about the exposure by the pool. The individual with Covid-19 is isolating at home and had not been at the pool since Sunday. The pool is currently closed.

The Health Department is working with the Hommocks Pool in Mamaroneck to identify staff and pool goers who were in close proximity to a person at the pool who tested positive for Covid-19, and to assure they quarantine and are tested. The individual with Covid-19 is isolating at home and had not been at the pool since Sunday. The pool is currently closed.

As part of its response, the Health Department inspects the pools, reviews records, interviews those who tested positive to identify others exposed and contacts them to alert them to their exposure and their need to quarantine and be tested.
