Status Update on Town Outdoor Pools and Splash Pads
The Town of Greenburgh Department of Parks and Recreation is planning to open the aquatic splash pads at Massaro Park and Yosemite Park on July 1st and the pool complex at Anthony F. Veteran Pool Park on Monday, July 6, 2020. The outdoor pool at Massaro Park will not open this season.
During the COVID-19 public health emergency, in order to operate aquatic splash pads and pools, all facilities must follow the New York State Department of Health guidance. Each facility must fill out a New York Forward Safety Plan that will describe how the town will comply with the COVID-19 Guidance, and submit a copy of the pool plan to the Westchester County Board of Health for review and approval before the county will issue a permit to operate pools this summer.

On a busy day the AFV Pool complex can accommodate up to 1,500 people, with a pool capacity of about 750 swimmers. The opening of the pool complex will require advance online reservations with a maximum of 300 people per swim session. There will be two swim sessions each day: from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. At the end of the morning session, all patrons will have to leave the facility so staff can disinfect and clean rest rooms and grounds.
Important Information to Know About the 2020 Pool Experience
- Advanced reservations for entering the park will be required. Only after the pool session is open and if reservations are not full will walk up registration be allowed.
- Social distancing of at least 6 feet from other individuals at all times, unless you are members of the same household or family unit. However, anytime individuals are within 6 feet of other individuals outside of their household or family unit and not in the water, they must wear an acceptable face covering that covers both the nose and mouth. Individuals must be prepared to don a face covering if another person unexpectedly comes within 6 feet.
- The pool season this year originally was to be for 89 days and now will only be for 64 days.
- No guests will be allowed for the opening on July 6th. This rule might be enforced for the whole season.

- Cabanas will be available for rent this season, but the rate will be reduced to reflect the shorter season. Last year’s cabana holders not interested in renting a cabana this year will be allowed their cabana spot for the 2021 season.
- Pool memberships will not be offered this season. However, individuals or families with active memberships purchased in 2019 will be prorated for 2020 so that residents will not lose any time because of the shortened season. Residents in financial hardship wanting a refund for the balance of their membership will be honored.
- Daily admission will be for only one session a day and not good for both. Same fee as 2019, $8.00 for adults and $6 for seniors and youth.
