FOOD DONATIONS TO THE POOR- AN EASY WAY TO MAKE FOOD DONATIONS

Last week I reported that Stephen Franciosa was collecting food for the poor and dropping the food off to Grace Church in White Plains -which has a food pantry serving the hungry. Stephen has been driving from house to house picking up food. Our community has been generous with donations. Thank you!

Trudy Holand, a resident of Joyce Road in Hartsdale asked me to share with the community another very generous offer: She’s working with Stephen collecting food donations.  If residents drop off food at her house the food will be donated to area churches/synagogues that are serving those who have lost their jobs and are hungry, homeless during Covid-19.  You can reach Trudy (who is also very active in the community) at Holand5@aol.com.  Trudy, Stephen and those who have been donating food to the hungry represent the best of Greenburgh and why we live in a special town.

A SIDE EFFECT OF COVID 19-- PEOPLE’S DIETS-----a recent radio interview with Ardsley nutritionist Erica Leon: Link below

A side effect of COVID-19 is people’s diets. During COVID 19 people are struggling with stress. Some people turn to eating to cope with stress- not hunger. One of the prominent advocates of good nutrition is Erica Leon of Ardsley - wife of the former Mayor, Jay Leon. Erica was my guest on a recent WVOX radio interview and we talked about good nutrition during this difficult time in many people’s lives.

Erica, a registered nutritionist,  discusses how you can have a better relationship with food and your body. She has worked in the field for 35 years and has a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Cornell and a master’s degree in clinical nutrition from NYU.
