[ARCHIVED] GREENBURGH RESIDENTS COMPLAINING- NO MAIL IN DAYS

e mails (click full text) from residents who complain: no mail delivery in days. Others complain to me about receiving mail destined for others. There is a primary on June 23rd for President, Congress, DA, Legislators. Will your vote be counted?

GREENBURGH RESIDENTS COMPLAINING--NOT RECEIVING MAIL FROM POSTAL SERVICE IN DAYS.... HOW WILL THIS IMPACT UPCOMING PRIMARY?

On June 23rd many residents of NYS will be casting their votes by absentee ballot in THE  primary for President, Congress, State Legislators, District Attorney.  I support the Governor’s initiative to encourage people to vote by absentee ballot.

A significant concern - many Greenburgh residents have not received ANY mail in days. Sampling of e mails I received can be read below. At the bottom of the page the Hartsdale Postmaster acknowledges that "the entire Postal Service is experiencing  some complications."  I continue to receive complaints from others that mail that should have been delivered to them went to someone else.

If people vote by absentee ballot they should expect that their absentee ballot will be delivered to the Board of Elections BEFORE VOTES ARE COUNTED  so their ballot can be counted. I am reaching out to state officials suggesting that the Board of Elections notify voters by e mail that they received the ballot.

If you are experiencing similar problems please advise by e mailing me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com.

Once again Paul, we are not getting our mail. Of course I realize the stress that everyone is going through but my neighbors and I are only getting junk mail. Mail that should have come by now is not coming. Please follow up as you always are kind enough to do. Thank you.

Hi, Paul,

Hope you and your family are well in the midst of this surreal springtime. I just wanted to let you know that our street in Edgemont has not received mail for the past 2 days. Hope everyone is okay at the post office, but wanted to alert you to this..

Thank you for your call earlier today. I hope you and your family are safe and well.

Please continue to provide me with updates as they come out.

On a separate note, while I have not had a significant problem with mail delivery in the past, I have only received two items in the past week - a bill on Friday and an advertisement today. I didn’t receive any mail on other days. Thank you,

hi, I just went to the post office on central ave because i have had letters sitting in my mailbox to go out for at lease 3 days.  The post office is closed but I spoke to the mailman behind the door and he said that my carrier is quarantining  herself and there has been no mail due to a backup at the plant with limited staff.   my husband thought i should let you know.

HI Paul,

Don’t know if you have a line in to the US Post Office Scarsdale Annex but Cotswold in Edgemont has now not had any mail delivered for three days straight.  I understand they must be swamped but many seniors in the neighborhood rely on checks that are mailed to them, or have ordered important supplies on-line instead of going to a store.

Wondered if there is any way you can find out when local mail delivery will be restored?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you for responding..I understand there will be call outs due to the virus outbreak...So this means they do not have anyone to deliver our mail? This is not and should not be acceptable. I see mail trucks traveling up and down Underhill Rd. frequently. This post office has been an issue for years. I have spoken with friends and family - who live in other towns in Westchester. They are receiving their mail on a daily basis. I would like to know what the post office is doing with our undelivered mail? When do they plan on delivering it?
Would appreciate a response to my questions..Many thanks

Good morning Paul,

First I hope you and your family are doing well and are safe.

I want to first compliment you on tackling these issues we are all facing.  I know it must be tough and we appreciate everything you are doing.  I also want to extend my sincerest thanks to the DPW and GPD for being out there continuing to service and protect our homes.  I know Chief Ryan is doing all that he can during these pressing times.

Lastly, I was just wondering if you know why there has been a slack in mail service?  We don’t seem to be receiving our mail on a daily basis and now, during these times of not leaving our homes, this is my only connection to the outside world to allow my business to continue.

I’ve tried calling the post office on Central but no answer..  Any help would be most appreciated.

Stay Safe,

Hi Paul

To add insult to injury after I got my informed mail info today, I didn’t get any mail. AGAIN!  Nothing since March 30 still. Then I received an amazon package delivered by...the USPS. But they couldn’t bring my mail with them!!  How am I supposed to pay my April 30 taxes??

HARTSDALE PO has made every delivery in our facility. The entire Postal Service is experiencing some complications but HARTSDALE PO has been delivering package and every piece of mail that has

come into our facility up to this point. If a resident has not received mail on a particular day, then that’s because  we didn’t have any mail to deliver to them. We have not skipped delivering to any street

in our HARTSDALE zip code 10530.
