Unincorporated Greenburgh 561 tested positives; Tarrytown: 130; Dobbs Ferry: 113; Elmsford: 75; Hastings:65; Ardsley: 52; Irvington:42

 

New York State Tests 526,012 (+26,869)
New York State Cases: 213,779 (+11,571)
New York State Fatalities: 11,586

 

  • U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer joined today’s conference  call  with municipal and county officials to discuss the CARES Act, which was recently approved by Congress. He gave an overview of some of the upcoming coronavirus stimulus programs which are being worked on.  NYS will receive $5 billion; $4 billion to Metro North; 1 billion to schools; 1 billion to higher education; funding for larger counties- not that much for towns and villages. The Senator is working on a 2nd bill which the Congress has to pass that would provide $150 billion for localities. But, there is opposition from the President and from some Senators. The bottom line: the town can’t count on significant financial help from Washington-although the Senator is trying. 
  • Director of Economic Development Bridget Gibbons has partnered with Volunteer New York to help small businesses navigate applying for federal aid. Potential volunteers and businesses needing assistance can be directed to:
