[ARCHIVED] Governor's directive on construction not being complied with

Copy of Greenburgh Building Inspector memo to me indicating that construction activity has been taking place in violation of Governor's directives. I find this very troubling. We are not taking the crisis seriously enough. People are dying! Please comply

Governor’s directives on no non essential construction not being complied with (copy of note I received from Building Inspector)

I requested the Building Dept to conduct inspections of properties that previously were issued Building Permits  to make sure that the Governor’s directives against non essential construction activity be complied with. We found that some contractors are not in compliance. If you think  work is taking place in violation of the Governor’s directives let us know. My e mail is pfeiner@greenburghny.com. No one likes not working. But, if we don’t stay home the virus will spread more rapidly. If employees are working next to each they can infect others or be infected. People will get sick or even die. It’s not fair to those with compromised immune diseases. We need to stay six feet away from each other. Be careful. WE DON"T WANT TO LOSE YOU.  Hundreds of your neighbors are already sick from coronavirus.  I have asked the police to step up patrols in playgrounds, fields.

Good afternoon Supervisor Feiner, As per your email dated March 31, 2020  I am giving you an update as to the Building Department response to the governors directives. Since Monday March 30 thru today April, 2  the inspectors have visited several sites with them having to stop 12 properties for not complying with the order. All said sites were issued verbal warnings and were instructed about the governors order. The inspectors will revisit these sites and will continue to look for other properties that may not be complying. I also advised the inspectors that if they see any work being done that needs to be completed do to safety reason to allow the contractor finish said work. Regards, Steven Fraietta Building Inspector Town of Greenburgh
