[ARCHIVED] Links to free library services

movies, documentaries, television shows, online courses, free tutoring etc

Dear Greenburgh Library patrons:

As you may already know, the Greenburgh Library will be closed through Sunday, March 29th as a precaution against the spread of the COVID-19 virus. At this time there is no known case of infection associated with the Library and staff are all well. As we continue to evaluate the situation, you can keep up to date by visiting our website , Twitter account, and Facebook page where information about the library will be kept current. You will also be able to see the status of all Westchester Libraries HERE.

During the library closure we will no longer be accepting materials you have checked out or donations for our Friends Book Store. We ask that if you have materials, museum passes or hot spots checked out that you keep them and return them after we re-open. No fines will accrue for any of your checked out materials. Library cards that are about to expire will automatically be renewed for a period of two months, so no need to worry about an expired card keeping you from using our digital services. Kanopy, one of our movie streaming services has a selection of movies you can watch without using any of your monthly credits. The Westchester Library System has graciously doubled user credits for both Kanopy and Hoopla. With an RBdigital account GPL cardholders can access Acorn TV and binge watch as much British TV as they want or try the Great Courses for a seven day period!

If you have kids home from school, Tutor.com has expanded its tutoring hours, between now and June 15, students can connect with tutors Monday through Friday, from 9am to 10pm.

GPL staff will be buying more eBooks and eAudiobook during the closure, so be sure to use Overdrive and Cloud Library so that you have plenty of reading and listening material. If you’ve never used any of our electronic resources, we have video tutorials to help you get started. Check out our Greenburgh Library Academy to take you through the steps to get your accounts set up. All you need is your library card and If you don’t have a card you can apply for one online today!

Please stay safe and healthy.
