CRIME
IN GREENBURGH IS DOWN- BURGLARIES IN 2019 WAS THE LOWEST EVER
The Greenburgh police department recently released statistics for criminal
offenses for the year 2019. During the year 2019 a total of 550 part I
offenses were reported to the department compared to 641 during 2018. This
represents a decrease of 91 offenses, constituting a decrease of approximately
13%. Burglaries were down by 50%. Robberies down 18%. The 22 burglaries tallied
in 2019 is the lowest number reported since the town began maintaining crime
recrods.
Part
II offenses decreased from 899 in 2018 to 805 in 2019. This reduction by 94
incidents represents a 10% decrease. Included in this category are simple
assaults, DWI’s, sex offenses (excluding rape), drugs, criminal mischief,
fraud/forgery, public order and theft offenses.
