We have an amazing list of fun activities that you and your family will enjoy. I hope you will participate in some of the programs. The cover of the activities guide features an invitation to attend an event on June 14th sponsored by the Friends of the Odell House. As you may know, the town is acquiring the historic Odell house (located on Ridge Road in Hartsdale). We received a substantial grant from NYS last year to rehabilitate the house and hope to eventually turn this historic building into a museum. This house played an important role in the Revolutionary War. Rochambeau and George Washington camped there and made critical decisions that enabled Washington to win the war of Independence.
There’s information in the guide about summer camps, student programs, arts and cultural events, dancing, swimming, swim instructions, nature walks, our annual dog swim (right after labor day). You’ll find information about adult aerobic exercise, lap swimming times, senior programs, numerous activities at the Greenburgh Library (the library is more than just books). Visit the Nature Center. Enjoy bridge, ping pong, knitting or even Spanish classes. Listen to a lecture.
There’s an opportunity to learn tennis (even if your child is a tot) for children, teens and adults. And - our special recreation programs are enjoyed by those with disabilities.
And don’t forget our summer jazz concerts at Yosemite Park (in back of the Theodore Young Community Center) and family day at AF Veteran park.
Please take advantage of the activities being offered. It will make your experiences living in Greenburgh much more fun and meaningful. And, you’ll get a chance to meet some great neighbors and families living in town.
And - please let us know what you think of the programs after you participate in them. We always want to improve.
