[ARCHIVED] Swearing in ceremonies scheduled at area elementary schools for town officials

welcome Councilwoman Gina Jackson, congrat's Councilman Ken Jones and Judge Delores Brathwaite and Town Clerk Judith Beville

Greenburgh has a new Councilwoman. Gina Jackson is officially a Town Board member  as of today. Since her primary win in June she has attended most Town Board meetings and work sessions and is fully prepared for her new responsibilities.  And, thank you to former Councilwoman Ellen Hendrickx for her seven months of outstanding service as an interim Town Board member.

Congratulations to Councilman Ken Jones, Town Clerk Judith Beville and Town Judge Delores Brathwaite on their election victories. I'm  also grateful to the voters for re-electing me as Town Supervisor. I am very excited about the next two years and will be highlighting ambitious goals for 2020 soon.

Following a tradition I started when I was a Westchester County Legislator, swearing in ceremonies will be held at area schools. I have been sworn into office at the NY School for the Deaf every two years since I was a County Legislator - 36 years ago!  For me this swearing in ceremony is very meaningful.  Those with physical challenges need to be encouraged to overcome their challenges.  It's our hope that one day one of the students who participate in the ceremonies will run for public office and win.

I wrote to all the elementary schools in Greenburgh asking if they would like a swearing in ceremony to be held at their school. The following ceremonies have been scheduled. If other schools would like us to hold a ceremony at their school please contact me. In addition to the actual swearing in ceremony we discuss town government issues and government with the students and answer questions.
