I have received a number of complaints about traffic congestion going to the Hartsdale train station during rush hour.. During the past few days some people have advised me that it is taking a very long time to get from W Hartsdale Ave or the 4 corners to the Hartsdale train station. The 4 corners light is a NYS light, not a town light. We have contacted the NYS DOT.
This is an update from the police chief...
Greenburgh DPW on scene on East Hartsdale Ave checking signals. We also notified State DOT for signals at 4 corners. There have been no changes implemented by the Town with respect to signals on East Hartsdale. Checking with State DOT for possible looping malfunction with respect to pedestrian crossing function whereby the signals loop to allow for pedestrians crossing and in fact there are no pedestrians present.
LONG TERM
Town officials met with the NYS Department of Transportation in Poughkeepsie yesterday. We made the case for signal upgrading to the 4 corners by NYS-DOT. T We are also interested in upgrading the traffic lights on E Hartsdale Ave under our control (sensors, synchronizing these systems) to reduce congestion. Newer lights would enable better traffic flow. We also want to balance traffic safety.
Sorry for the inconveniences residents have experienced getting to and from the Hartsdale train station. We are trying to address this problem.
