Riley Wentzler and Felicia Barber, our assistant town historians, will be coordinating periodic survey monkey outreach surveys in the coming months. The first survey monkey pertains to the 2020 sanitation schedule. The reason why we’re considering changing the schedule is because some residents complained to us about the calendar this past year. Residents who live in the south section of town have one less garbage pickup day than residents who live in the northern section of the town because most holidays fall on Mondays. During the holiday weeks they received only one day a week pickup.
To participate in the survey you need to click onto the survey. We want to hear from you. Because the calendar needs to be finalized on Monday – surveys must be completed this weekend. We will use the information as a guide to get a sense of what the community wants. PAUL FEINER
Constituent Outreach Survey # 1
We’re finalizing our 2020 sanitation calendar this week and want your input. In 2019 we expanded recycling –weekly pickup of both commingled and paper. For the south end of the town garbage is picked up on Monday and Thursday. For the north end of the town garbage is picked up on Tuesday’s and Friday. During holidays we don’t pick up garbage on the day the holiday falls on. This leaves you with three options. We would like to know which you would prefer?
- A. The Commissioner of Public Works met with the Town Board and discussed the possibility of changing the calendar next year. If a holiday falls on a Monday garbage would be picked up in the south section of town on Tuesday and Thursday. In the northern section of town garbage would be picked up on Wednesday and Friday. There would be no comingled recycling pickup only on holiday weeks. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO HOLIDAY WEEKS.
- B. Rotate the calendar. One year Monday pickups for the south section. Tuesday for the north section. The next year—do the opposite. This way every section of town would get the same service on alternate years.
- C. Switching anything would be too confusing, please keep sanitation schedule as is
