[ARCHIVED] Town to honor Woodlands HS teacher for being named Social Studies Teacher of the Year in NYS

Congratulations Mandel Holland
Town to honor Mandel at December 13th Town Board meeting

Congratulations to Mandel Holland, Woodlands High School Social Studies teacher, on his latest honor: being named a  a 2023 New York State History Teacher of the Year through the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. What an honor!

The Greenburgh school district is very lucky to have Mandel teaching our youth.  I was also impressed that he was  nominated for this honor by a current Junior at Woodlands High - Leo Llorente Valin who was  inspired by his teaching. Mandel has touched the lives of so many young people in a positive manner. He is a role model.

Mandel's  commitment to teaching American history, his  creativity, imagination in the classroom, effective use of documents, artifacts, historic sites, oral history has inspired many young people to excel. He has been  making a world of a positive difference in the lives of many.

I have always known that the Greenburgh School district has exceptional faculty like Mandel Holland.  They have many outstanding and dedicated teachers who really care. I have asked the Town Board to honor Mandel Holland at our December 13th meeting at 7:30 PM --Greenburgh Town Hall.
