Sarthak Bagchi was a summer intern during the past two years. A senior at Valhalla High School, Sarthak helped create PSAs to combat food insecurity, and he also recently helped set up a press conference and picnic to bring awareness and aid to local asylum seekers who are receiving unjust care. He was an exceptional student intern. And his efforts made a difference.
During his internship he and other students also spent some time working on initiatives to make Greenburgh more sustainable. He interviewed Leo Wiegman, the director of solar programs at Sustainable Westchester and created an informational solar video using that interview.
Here at Greenburgh, we value a clean environment and clean energy practices to serve as a model for other nearby communities. One method of clean energy production that is suitable for our area and Westchester County is solar energy production. There are many rooftops and parking lots in Greenburgh to place solar panels and we can really contribute to the fight against global warming if we take advantage of these open spaces. Watch this video made by Greenburgh Town Hall Summer Interns to learn more about solar in Westchester County.
We appreciate our future leaders -students like Sarthak who are already doing great things for the planet and our community.
We like to highlight our exceptional student leaders. If you know of Greenburgh students who are doing great things please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com.
