[ARCHIVED] Fatal pedestrian accident on E Hartsdale Ave yesterday

Police asked that no further info be released until investigation is completed

Yesterday, August 26th, at about 11:14 AM, a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle in the area of 177 East Hartsdale Ave. First responders attempted to render aid to the pedestrian on the scene. She was transported to White Plains Hospital and was pronounced deceased due to her injuries.  This was a hit and run accident. The vehicle fled the scene was later located by the Police and the driver was apprehended.  An accident investigation conducted by the  Greenburgh police is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is encouraged to call the Greenburgh Police at 914 989 1700.  The name of the woman who lost her life has not been released to the public at this time.

The police chief advised the members of the Town Board of the accident yesterday --shortly after the accident and asked that we not share information until the investigation is completed. This information is being posted based on the press release the Police Department issued late last night.

Members of the Town Board are devastated by this tragedy. We will work with the police to review the causes of this accident and what action steps could be taken in the future to make our community safer for pedestrians.
