MAVIS DISCOUNT TIRE HEADQUARTERS TO MOVE TO HILLSIDE AVE=former Dannon building
I had the privilege of meeting with Tony & David Mavis yesterday and received some good news. The former Dannon Corporate headquarters, across from Greenburgh Town Hall, will be occupied by Mavis Discount Tire Corporate headquarters Mavis Discount Tire. Mavis employs 300 people at their headquarters, managing over 828 service centers in 22 states including one on 865 Central Ave and at 22 Russell Street, White Plains (off 119).
The Town of Greenburgh considered purchasing or leasing the same property 100 Hillside to relocate the Police, Court but the costs were prohibitive. And the Greenburgh School district would have lost significant taxes each year since the property would have been tax exempt. Mavis will now be relocating their headquarters from Millwood NY to here.
The company has a compelling history:
Mavis started as a family-owned bicycle shop in 1949 that grew into working on automobile tires. By 1971, it had become a three-store chain. In 1972, they changed their name to Mavis Tire Supply, one of the first multi-brand dealers in the New York area. Mavis is now one of the largest independent multi-brand tire dealers in the US and offers a menu of additional services including state inspections, brakes, alignments, oil changes, chassis and suspension, ride control/shocks and struts, battery replacement and exhaust work.
This is good news for the town. Mavis is a great company and we look forward to being great neighbors.
