[ARCHIVED] Sad new: one of our most exceptional former public servants passed away- Pat Baviello

Pat Baviello was an exceptional public servant and Highway Forman

Greenburgh lost one of our most dedicated, hard working and well liked former employees. Pat Baviello, who lived in our community for many years, passed away earlier this week. Pat was an exceptional General Forman for our Highway department. After each snow people would marvel at how clean our roads were.  When drains needed to be repaired the Highway department quickly responded. Road maintenance during Pat's tenure as Highway Foreman was outstanding. And, our streets were swept and kept clean.  Pat was a role model for public servants--someone who cared about our town and who was proud of his work. We all feel horrible about his passing and will always appreciate what he did to make Greenburgh a nice place to live.  He will never be forgotten. At our last Town Board meeting (this past Wed) the Town Board began our meeting with a moment of silence in the memory of Pat Baviello.

Pasquale "Pat" Baviello, a resident of Dobbs Ferry and formerly of Ardsley, passed away on April 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 77. He was born in Italy and was the son of the late Michele and Mariantonia Baviello. Pasquale proudly served in the United States Army from 1965-1967, and it was during this time that he met his beloved Lupe in Arizona. They got married on September 1, 1967, and settled in Ardsley where they raised their family. They were blessed with two sons, Michael and Gary.

For 37 years, Pat worked as a General Foreman for the Highway Department of the Town of Greenburgh. He had a passion for the outdoors, which he demonstrated through his love for hunting and tending to his garden. He found joy in keeping busy, whether it was taking out the garbage, tinkering in the garage, vacuuming, or doing laundry. However, his deepest devotion was to his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them, especially with his grandchildren. Pasquale will be dearly missed.

Pasquale is survived by his wife Lupe, sons Michael (Rachele) and Gary (Anamaria), granddaughters Arianna, Cassidy, and Deanna, sisters-in-law Lucia and Grace, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Gerardo, Carmine, and Immacolata.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Dobbs Ferry, with visiting hours on Sunday from 3-7 PM at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry.
