New PNW BOCES Career Program!

Underground Utility Field Technician: This innovative program includes classroom, virtual reality, and field instruction to provide studens with the knowledge and hands-on skills to become a professional utility locate technician. Curriculum includes blueprint reading, electrical theory principles, locating equipment use and job site safety. Students will learn how locating underground utilities is necessary in the excavation and construction industry not only to keep excavators and homeowners safe while digging, but also prevent the disruption of vital utility services such as electric, gas, phone, cable and fiber optics.

Available Sessions: 8-10am, 10-12pm, 12-2pm

UA Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 Apprenticeship Program

The UA Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC)

conducts a five year apprenticeship program for Sprinkler Fitters who are piping mechanics specializing in fire protection. They are now urgently recruiting qualified applicants. The apprentice’s entry-level rate is between $38.15–$48.98/hour and may increase every six months if qualified. Previous experience in construction or related college or military experience may enhance the entry-level wage.

 Minimum qualifications for entry are:
 1. Must be the age of 18 or over.
 2. Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
 3. Must be physically fit to perform the work of the trade.
 4. Must be able to pass appropriate drug test and medical exam.

Ready to improve your skills and start on your ideal career pathway? The NYSDOL offers free virtual monthly workshops on a wide variety of job search topics including resume writing, interview preparation, how to navigate a virtual career fair, write cover letters, veterans services, goal setting, transferable skills and more. Because the workshops are presented online you can register for workshops offered at any of the Career Centers across New York State. All you need is access to a computer and the internet. If you don’t have access to a computer you can visit the resource room of the career center closest to you.
