[ARCHIVED] NYS repaving Saw Mill River Road beginning this week

Thank you Jennifer Glen- a graduate of the Elmsford school district who collected 1,400+ online signatures. She made a difference

The NYS Department of Transportation will start repaving 9A in Elmsford/Greenburgh from Babbitt Court to Fairview Park Drive  this week thanks to funding secured by State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins. Credit also goes  to a lobbying effort organized by a graduate of the Elmsford public school system, Jennifer Glen, who is currently studying for her MCAT to apply to Medical School this coming year.

This summer Jennifer organized an online petition drive and collected over 1,400 signatures from motorists, pedestrians and citizens who were upset at the numerous potholes, craters and bumpy/unsafe road conditions.

The NYS department of Transportation had claimed they had no funds to repave the road just months ago. Jennifer highlighted the fact that one citizen can make a difference.  Watch the link to the CBS TV news story about Jennifer and her successful lobbying effort.

I hope that Jennifer's success will motivate others to get involved and to speak out on issues of concern. You can also be heard. And you can make a difference in our community.

Thank you, Jennifer Glen for being an inspiration. And, thank you Senator Cousins for securing the funds needed to repave this important road.
