[ARCHIVED] Masks are now optional at Greenburgh municipal buildings

The Greenburgh Town Board voted to lift the mask requirement at Town Hall and all municipal buildings at Tuesday's work session.  Greenburgh was one of the last governments to have a mask requirement. Visitors and employees who enter government buildings no longer have to wear masks - reversing  an action the Town Board took earlier this year.

NYS recently eliminated mask requirements on public transit systems. The mask to enter government buildings was getting difficult to enforce. Many employees had asked the town to eliminate the requirement.  And the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention loosened its recommendations regarding masks in August.

We will ask our employees and visitors to be respectful to those wearing masks. And if you are near someone who has medical issues to consider wearing a mask.  We also encourage everyone to get their vaccines and boosters.  We want our residents and employees to be healthy and to stay healthy.  During the pandemic we lost two dedicated employees to this horrible illness.
