[ARCHIVED] Roads are hazardous -slippery--cars should not be parked on street

our crews are working hard to clear roads of snow. But, road conditions are very slippery. If you have a car parked on the road it should be moved elsewhere. You don't want another vehicle to slide into your car! Snow angel volunteers needed.

I just got off the phone with  Greenburgh Commissioner of Public Works Rich Fon.  Our crews have been working  since 9 PM and will continue to plow the roads of snow until all the roads are in good condition. We anticipate an active storm till 4 PM.  There are no road closures and no power outages at this time in unincorporated Greenburgh.  We are using crews from Highway, Sanitation, Water and Parks departments to help keep the town roads in good shape. The Greenburgh Library is closed today.

Cars on town streets should be removed. This enables DPW crews to do a better job of clearing the road.  It's also smart  and in your interest not to leave your car on a town street.  In the past, we've had reports of vehicles skidding into cars parked on town streets.  Even after we clear a road of snow the road conditions are slippery -with lots of cars skidding and sliding.

Finally, we need more volunteer snow angels to respond to the requests for assistance from seniors and disabled residents. If you have the time and are able to help a neighbor in need please complete the form below.

Be safe! Stay home till the snow is cleared.
