Every year Westchester County honors exceptional seniors  for the annual Hall of Fame Awards. Only a handful of seniors ever receive  their top honors. Last month we were informed that lloyd Cort, who oversees the CDBG program in the town was not only named to the Hall of Fame but is being given the special honor of receiving TOP HONORS.

Lloyd, chair of the Community Development Advisory Committee is most deserving of this prestigious and top honor.  As former President of the Parkway Garden Civic Association, he was responsible for making his civic association  one of the most active in Greenburgh. He has also served as a member of the Police Advisory Board.

Last week we were advised that the county CDBG program awarded the town of Greenburgh the following:

·        $100,000 - Awarded to Greenburgh Parks & Recreation for the Greenburgh Nutrition Program Pandemic Weekend Meals:  To allow the delivery of two additional meal to our seniors for the weekend. Seven days of meals instead of five!

·        $100,000 - Awarded to the Lois Bronz Children’s Center for Modernization the of Information Technology infrastructure at the Center.

·        $95,000 - Awarded to the Greenburgh Housing Authority  for Community Broadband Access Initiative: To provide broadband access to the housing authority buildings. We have been pushing for this since the winter months. Broadband will provide lower income students with the same opportunities young people have when using computers at their homes.

·        $69,454 - Awarded to the Greenburgh Health Center for a Multi Passenger Handicap Accessible Van: To provide a new van to transport people to health appointments.

The above programs were recommended by our CDBG committee, all the members of the Greenburgh Town Board and Commissioner of PLanning and Winsome Gordon, Philanthropy Coordinator. Members of the CDBG program include  Dr. Brezetta Griffith-Bullock, Patricia Weems, Faye Branch, and  Dennis Rudin.

We are lucky to have someone like Lloyd in our community. He is a role model, inspiration and he has made lives better for many.
