car dealership offers one paid internship opportunity for students

we want to create internship/apprenticeship opportunities for students

CENTRAL AVENUE HYUNDAI OFFERS APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY

Greenburgh hopes Hyundai can form a model of what others will follow

GREENBURGH, NY_   In recent weeks, Town of Greenburgh student extern and graduating Edgemont senior Dexter Seeley, volunteering full-time with both the office of the Supervisor and the Town Clerk, has been approaching local car dealerships about participating in a new apprenticeship program. The idea is to pair dealerships with young adults/recent high school grads to help them gain important hands-on workforce experience across departments and get a foothold in the always changing and growing industry.

The first dealership who expressed an interest is the Central Avenue Hyundai, with Brian Suruj, Fixed Operations Director, offering one paid job to one individual over the age of 18. They will work approximately 12 hours a week at $14/hr. Responsibilities will include assisting with administrative duties such as answering phones, sending emails, making follow up calls.” Though entry level and admin-based, this work will give a young adult an important overview of the operations of the business.

Those interested in applying can email their resumes to Brian Suruj at  bsuruj@centralavehyundai.com

Supervisor Paul Feiner hopes this first effort proves a successful test that might motivate more dealerships, and other types of businesses in any industry, to follow suit. “We want to do everything we can to create job opportunities for young people in Greenburgh,” he said. “I’d like to specifically thank Central Avenue Hyundai for taking the chance, and our talented extern Dexter for helping us make that connection.”
