SIGN THE PETITION TO PROTECT UNINCORPORATED GREENBURGH

If Edgemont residents pursue incorporation it could be devastating to the rest of unincorporated Greenburgh: higher taxes, reduction in services. The NYS Legislature could vote on important legislation within the week. Act now!!

In recent weeks, key citizens, community leaders and I, with full unanimous Town Council support, have been lobbying to pass a bill to protect the Town of Greenburgh – now we ask that a since-gutted version of this bill be restored to what it was just days ago.

I am extremely disappointed and quite upset regarding major changes made last evening to Assembly Bill 2553. This legislation, if passed, would have offered at least some protection for the residents of the remaining Town, should Edgemont be successful in their incorporation campaign and ultimately become a Village. The new proposed bill takes away the essential language that first required a review of the social and economic impacts of incorporation.

I cannot tell you how it was accomplished, or who intervened in this process, but I believe that we should re-double our efforts to lobby our elected officials, displaying a level of outrage proportionate to the actions of those involved.

We must move aggressively and quickly to ask our NYS Legislative Delegation to act on behalf of those most vulnerable in our Town.

Please join this effort in keeping Greenburgh intact by signing your name online to this petition at Change.org, and encouraging others to do the same. (Please note this is not a request to donate, your name in support will suffice. If Change.org requests a donation, that money does not go to the Town.)

Thank you for your attention to this important matter!
