[ARCHIVED] Yesterday's conviction of George Floyd's murderer is reassuring

All acts of bigotry won't be tolerated

Yesterday's conviction of George Floyd's murderer  reassured the American people that we live in a country where Black lives must matter. Black lives, brown lives  are important.  All acts of bigotry against anyone --whether they are large acts or small acts must not be tolerated. The Greenburgh police and town government recognize the importance of accountability and will work hard to make sure that  law enforcement is in line with American values.  We are proud that the Town Board ( Gina Jackson, Ken Jones, Diana Juettner, Francis Sheehan and myself)  approved recommendations made by the hard working  Committee Against Systemic Racism and are committed to continue to work to achieve the goals of the committee.  We also are pleased to have a dedicated group of citizens involved in  the Greenburgh Human Rights Committee which has been working very hard to fight bigotry and racism.  Our Police Community Advisory Board has been meeting since 1992 to encourage dialogue and promote greater understanding between the police and the community in which they serve. That Board  meets the first Monday of each month. Meetings are public.
