Our hard working DPW and parks department crews have been working non stop clearing snow from streets, sidewalks. Have received many compliments from grateful residents who appreciate the work of our highway, sanitation and parks team. I plan to visit the Highway garage and other town facilities to personally thank our employees for their dedication. The amount of snow that had to be cleared was enormous.
We have snow related problems on E Hartsdale Ave and are going to keep two crews working tonight to address these conditions. We will be working until approximately 10 PM. May take a break around rush hour.
During the past few days I have sent out some alerts about our snow angel program. I have received many requests to help senior citizens and disabled residents and so far have been able to find volunteers for almost everyone. We've helped people in wheelchairs, those who have 24/7 health care aides who needed access to the residents home, widows living alone and people who have had other emergency needs. One of our snow angels helped out after work last night (around 9 PM). Other snow angels have taken time out of their work schedules to help their neighbors. Am very grateful. And don't want to impose by constantly calling the same people to help.
Today I received two additional calls--an elderly woman in Hartsdale whose husband is critically ill. And the daughter of a woman who lives in a condo in North Elmsford (she lives an hour away from her elderly mom). Her mom needs help removing the snow/ice from a parking lot at her complex.
If you are able to help one of these please advise by e mailing me and I will get you the contact info.
Otherwise- I will ask some of the other snow angels to help.
