On Monday...Memorial Day...the Hartsdale Fire department will be sponsoring their annual Memorial day parade beginning at DeSantis Plaza (across from Starbucks) at 10 AM -continuing to E Hartsdale Ave and ending at the Hartsdale Fire House on Central Ave.  The Fairview Fire department holds their parade beginning at 11:15 at the Fairview Fire House on Rosemont Blvd. The parade continues on Tarrytown Road to the Greenburgh Police HQ and then back to the fire house.

Villages within Greenburgh all have their own Memorial day parades.  The village of Hastings had their parade today (Sunday). See attached 32 second video I took - a musical tribute to our veterans.

Glenn Eisen, a former member of the Greenburgh Ethics Committee and a resident of the town, frequently shares valuable info that  residents can benefit from.

Vet Tix is an organization that provides free event tickets (theater, concerts, sporting, etc.) to veterans, active duty and retired service persons.  I heard about it from the VA.gov website. This is a 501-C3 organization, registered as Veteran Tickets Foundation in Tempe, Arizona, that claims to use 95% of its income to deliver its services.

Currently, I receive daily email notices of tickets for the types of events I selected I want to be notified about in the area (venues throughout the tristate region).  So far I’ve taken advantage of a few of their offers.  They both seem very legitimate and transparent.  Some theater events even include Broadway and off Broadway Shows.  Sporting events range from baseball , soccer, and football to mixed martial arts.

I know you’re involved with various veterans’ organizations in Greenburgh and thought you might wish to pass on the link to any veteran or service member who wishes to take advantage of the service.  There are no charges to join, a requirement that proof of service be provided through the VA or government links, and after tickets are issued a small charge (generally around $12 or $13 total regardless of number of tickets used) for the ticket issue processing.

There is a requirement that the veteran, and his or her guests, must actually use the tickets.  There are penalties for those who may attempt to resell or give away their tickets.

The link to the Vet Tix is: https://www.vettix.org/ref/2040219  or if people don’t wish to use this link (which gives me credit for referrals) they can just got to https://www.vettix.org/.   Please feel free to pass this information on to as many people or organizations in the community you desire.

The organization’s mission statement from their website (https://www.vettix.org/) reads:

Give Something to Those Who Gave

Vet Tix * provides tickets to events which reduce stress, strengthen family bonds, build life-long memories and encourage service members and veterans to stay engaged with local communities and American life. We support our troops by honoring their service and providing positive family and life experiences, during and after their years of service to our country.

Vet Tix provides tickets to all branches of currently-serving Military and Veterans, including immediate family of troops KIA.

Vet Tix secures tickets to sporting events, concerts, performing arts, educational and family activities across the nation. VetTixers sign up online. We verify their service. VetTixers request tickets to events that interest them, then pay a small delivery fee to receive their free tickets.

* Vet Tix is a 95% Charity - Veteran Tickets Foundation, Tempe, Arizona
