In 2005/2006 a new building was built at the intersection of W Hartsdale Ave/Dobbs Ferry Road -across from Benjamin's. The building (which I think is very attractive) has never been used by anyone. It probably has the distinction of being the newest building in town or anywhere that has been vacant for the longest amount of time. Whenever I passed the building I wondered how a new beautiful building over a dozen years old could stay vacant.
The distinction is ending! Contractors are doing interior work. And the building is being rented out---FINALLY!
Across Westchester and regionally, office building vacancies are unfortunately all too common. The Town has recently received confirmation that the building will soon be partially occupied for the first time. Summit Educational Group, who provide test prep tutoring services, and CAPTRON (a German manufacturer – opening its first US office, in the Town of Greenburgh) will be leasing space in the building and will be welcome additions to the Town. When the office building was initially improved, the applicant installed sidewalks in along its frontage, which were the first pedestrian improvements near this intersection, leading to a series of other sidewalk improvements which benefit residents and school children along this corridor.
I'm going to send this e mail to the owner of the SPA on Central Ave (near Dilmaghani's) and encourage the property owner to remove the eyesore and do something with that property. That abandoned health spa has been empty for decades and could/should be developed--and the eyesore should be removed.
